The monument in the wide forest
In early 2020, a lying memorial stone was found.
A group of history fans decided to rebuild it. First it was necessary to find out its history.
Later, during a search in the Ústí nad Labem City Archives, it was found that the stone was placed on a pedestal in 1908, on the 60th anniversary of the reign of Emperor Franz Joseph I. The nearby road was also named "Jubilee".
The monument was toppled in 1919 after the end of the First World War. The stone was overgrown with grass and bushes for seven years.
In 1926 the stone was re-built and "reborn".
This was done with the help of members of the Ústí Mountain Association, with the participation of members of the Telnice section of this association.
At this time, the memorial stone was named after Leonhard Pohl, a local merchant and national scientist.
The dedication is still visible on the memorial plaque placed on the depression in the shape of a shield.
The trail that brought you to this place was renamed "Leonhard's" at the time.
The monument stood until the 1980s when it was demolished. The pedestal was dismantled, probably by metal detectors.
Local enthusiasts knew the whole history so they didn't hesitate to build a concrete pedestal. A stone weighing 2 tons was placed on it on October 24, 2023.
The pedestal of the monument was covered with other stones. You can see it in this form as it was first presented to the public on 28.10.2023
